Thomas was the son of Michael & Elizabeth Isted.  He was born c1849, and was christened on 27 January 1850 in Ashburnham, Sussex.

Thomas married Margaret Eastland  on 15 February 1873 in Ashburnham, Sussex. Margaret was also born c1849.   Margaret had two children before her marriage, who lived with couple and their subsequent children.

The family lived at Ninfield in Sussex, and theirs was a tragic life, with several of their children dying in infancy.

Margaret died in 1924, and was buried on 28 February 1924 in St Mary's churchyard, Ninfield.  Thomas was also buried there, on 19 April 1928.
