Thomas was the son of James & Mary Nicholls, and was born c1832 in Blean, near Canterbury, Kent. He served in the Royal Horse Artillery and was awarded the Crimea medal (1854-1856), Turkish Crimea medal (1854-1856), and a Long Service & Good Conduct medal (1855-1874). He was discharged from service on 3 December 1872. Emma was the daughter of Ambrose & Emily Holness, and was born c1846 at Blean, near Canterbury . She married her first husband, Henry Baker in 1867, and the couple had three children. Thomas & Emma were married in 1874, and they lived at Harbledown near Canterbury, where in 1881, Thomas was employed as a Coachman. After Emily died, in 1894, Thomas became an In-Pensioner of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, on 1 October 1898.
Thomas died on 1 August 1906, and was buried in Brookwood Cemetery. |
