Stanley William Heathorn Mepsted was the son of Charles & Elizabeth Mepsted.  He was born on 12 October 1902 at Upper Fant Road in Maidstone, Kent.

Stanley's father and grandfather were well known chimney sweeps in Maidstone, and Stanley worked in the family business until the 1950s, when he left to work in Maidstone prison

Stanley married Minnie Emily Wakefield  in 1927. Minnie was born on 11 December 1908 in Maidstone, Kent.  The marriage ended in divorce, and Stanley later married Margaret Glennen. 

Stanley died in February 1986, and Minnie died in February 1994.
