Lawrence Cyril Vidler was born on 26 Feb 1884 in Eastbourne, Sussex.  He was the eighth child of George and Ellen Vitler.

He married Lily Veitch (nee Parks) in Camberwell, London on 21 April 1919.  She was the daughter of Edwin Parks, and was born on 29 December 1886 in Edinburgh, Scotland.  Her first husband was killed during World War I.

Lawrence and Lily's only child, Desmond Frank was born on 13 Feb 1922 in Peckham, London.  

Lily died on 9 January 1954 and Lawrence died in 1959, in Croydon.
