St Mark's, Bexhill

James Pocock was born in Hooe in 1851 and baptised at St Oswald’s Church on 14th December 1851. He worked as an agricultural labourer in Hooe and Ninfield before moving to Bexhill where we was employed as a navvy.

James married Harriett Freeman at St Mark's Church, Bexhill on 26th April 1873. The witnesses at the wedding were the groom’s brother, Edward Pocock, and the bride’s sister, Sarah Jane Freeman. The couple had six children. 

James died at 4 Arncliffe Terrace, Turkey Road, Bexhill in 1908, aged 57.  He was buried in Bexhill Cemetery on 14th November 1908.  Harriett died in 1918 and was buried with her husband in Bexhill Cemetery on 12th January 1918.
