St Peter's Church, Ashburnham

Our Isted Family History centres around the family of Michael and Elizabeth Isted, who were married at St Peter's Church, Ashburnham, Sussex, on 25 December 1834.  We believe that Michael was the son of John Isted, who died c1825, and his wife Mary Ticehurst, but we have not been able to prove this.

During a visit to Ashburnham in 2001, where the above photograph was taken, we found several Isted headstones, but we can't  as yet establish whether they belong to our ancestors.

If we are able to prove the link to John Isted we may, with the help of Bruce Isted, who is undertaking a One-Name study into his name, be able to trace our history back as far as the 15th Century.

Bruce recently joined forces with fellow researcher, Kevin Isted, who has set up a website dedicated to the name.  Naturally we would be pleased to hear from other people who can help us, or who have a connection to the name.
