Henry was the sixth child of William and Ann Vitler, he was baptised at Hooe on 15 April 1787. He married Hannah Head at Hooe on 6 May 1808. Henry and Hannah had nine children: Harriot, born 1808, baptised at Hooe on 9 October 1808. George, baptised at Hooe on 5 September 1810. Hannah, baptised at Hooe on 25 October 1812, married John Christian in 1833. Henry, baptised at Hooe on 19 March 1815. James, baptised at Hooe on 9 February 1817, married Harriet Eastland at Hooe in 1838. Thomas, baptised at Hooe on 10 February 1820, married Jane Marchant in 1839. Elizabeth, baptised at Hooe on 22 June 1823. Mary, baptised at Hooe on 5 April 1827, married Edward Shoesmith at Bexhill in 1853. Ann, baptised at Hooe on 11 November 1827, married James Elphick at Hooe in 1850. Henry and Hannah appear on the 1841 and 1851 census living in Hooe with some of their children. Henry was buried in Hooe churchyard on 3 September 1851. Hannah then appears on the 1861 census living with Henry’s brother John. She is believed to have been buried in Hooe churchyard on 6 March 1864. |
