Helen was was born on 20 October 1894 in Brooklyn, New York.  She was the only child  of Richard and Ellen Coyle, and was baptised by the Rev. King at the Congregational Church of Brooklyn on 9 June 1895.

On 20 March 1912 she married her step-brother, Walter Johnson in her mother's house in Minaville, New York.  Helen and Walter's only child, Bernice Irene was born on 12 April 1913.

Walter died on 2 December 1920 and was buried in the Moss Cemterery, Hudson Falls, New York.

Helen brought up Bernice alone,  until she married Roy Ketchum in 1930.  Roy was born on 20 April 1892 in Moreau, New York.  Helen and Roy had four children:

Bernice's first child was born in 1936, and the two families spent a lot of time together. 

Helen died on 3 February 1971, and Roy died on 30 November 1973, both were buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville.
