Frank was the tenth child of James & Ruth Isted. He was born in Ashburnham on 30 May 1883, and was baptised on 24 June 1897. He spent his childhood in Ashburnham with his brothers and sisters, where he appeared with his family on the 1891 census. Frank died on 2 December 1897, aged 14 and was buried a few days later in Penhurst churchyard.
