Ferdinand Hodgson Ball, the youngest of John and Hannah’s 16 children, was born on 16 September 1841, at 20 St George’s Place, Belgravia. 

Ferdinand became a schoolmaster, and the census return of 1861 reveals that he was teaching at Clutton, Somerset. By 1871 he was the schoolmaster at Cookham Union, Berkshire, and he was still there in 1881.

Ferdinand married Elizabeth Jane Hewison on 1 January 1889, in St Peter's Church, Duxford, Cambridgeshire.  Elizabeth was born c1841, and was the daughter of John Hewison.  In 1891 the couple were living in High Street, Duxford.

Ferdinand and Elizabeth’s daughter, Violet Ethel, was born in 1891, and by 1901 the family was living at Holly Grange House, Pirbright, Surrey. By now Ferdinand had become an estate agent.

Ferdinand died at 139 Kings Avenue, Clapham, on 29 June 1918.
