Edward Thomas Freeman was born in Hooe in 1836, and was baptised at St Oswald’s Church on 26th June that year. Edward moved to Bexhill in the 1850s, where he worked as an agricultural labourer. He married Keziah Whyborn at St Peter’s Church, Bexhill on 31st May 1857. The witnesses at the wedding were Thomas and Sarah Bristow. Edward and Keziah had one daughter, Ellen (born in 1858) who married Thomas Hunnisett at St Peter’s Church, Bexhill on 16th October 1880. Keziah died in 1887, and Edward died at Battle Infirmary, Battle in 1926, aged 89. He was buried in Bexhill Cemetery on 9th February 1926.
