Doris Philadelphia was born in Ninfield on 18th June 1898, named after her grandmother Philadelphia Freeman. She married John Allan Dunster in the Methodist Church, Prince Imperial Road, Chislehurst, Kent in 1936 and the couple settled in Plumstead in southeast London. The couple had a house that backed on to the River Thames and her nephew remembers watching the Queen Mary steam up the Thames from her garden. Doris and John had no children, and Doris died in 1945.
