Clifford was the second child of John & Elizabeth Vidler, and was born in Ashburnham on 9 July 1905.  He was baptised on 20 August 1905.

On 1 June 1925 he married Lily Roots at St Michael and All Angels, Marden, Kent.  The witnesses were Mabel and Harry Driscoll.  Lily was born on 1 November 1903.

The couple had three children, and the family lived at Longridge Farm in Marden, where Clifford worked for most of his life.

During the Second World War Clifford served in the Home Guard.

Lily died on 13 March 1967, and Clifford died on 13 June 1976.
