St Oswald's, Hooe

Charles William Pocock was born in Hooe in 1860, and was baptised at St Oswald’s Church on 29^th July 1860. He worked as an agricultural labourer, and married his cousin Eliza Elizabeth Vitler  at St Mary's Church, Eastbourne on 27^th June 1882.

Eliza was the daughter of James and Louisa Vitler, and was born c1860.

The couple lived in Hooe all their lives, and had five children.  Eliza died in 1919, aged 58, and was buried in St Oswald’s Churchyard on 27^th January 1919.   Charles died in 1940, and was buried with his wife on 2^nd January 1940.
