Charles, the 10th child of Jeremiah & Ann Vitler, was baptised at St Oswald’s church, Hooe on 14 April 1850. He lived in Hooe all his life. On 28 June 1876 he married Charlotte Taylor in Hooe. She was the daughter of Barnabas Taylor. The witnesses at the wedding were Joseph Carey, and Charles sister Julia. The couple's three children are all believed to have been born at Platt Cottage, Hooe: Emily May, 1874-1952, married Robert Southerden in 1915. Frederick, 1875-1963, married (1) Susan Daughtry, (2) Louisa J Worsfold. Alice, born 1878, married Henry Deeprose. Charlotte was buried in Hooe churchyard on 9 June 1019, aged 62 years. Charles was also buried there on 31 August 1923, aged 73 years. |
