Charles Savers and Catherine Howard were married on 29 November 1818 at St Mary's Church, Portsea.  We believe that the couple's first child, Charles was born c1820, and died in 1823; he was buried in St Mary's churchyard.

A family story relates that Charles was a French sailor who was drowned at Sea, but we have not been able to trace Charles's death.  However, we know that he died before 1827, as a year after the birth of their third child, Catherine Seavers (sic), widow, married John Thompson, a Mariner, on 26 February 1827.  Catherine & John's son, also named John was baptised on 11 May 1828 at St Mary's, Portsea.  The couple also had a daughter, Susanna, born c1837.

At the time of the 1841 census we find Catherine living with John Thompson (12), Amelia Savers (15) and Susanna Thompson (3).

Catherine died from Cholera on 14 August 1849, in Duke of York Square, Southampton.  The informant at her death was Emma Fox of the same address.  Her death certificate indicates that John was still alive at that time, but we know nothing more about his life.  Catherine was buried the day after she died, in Southampton Old Cemetery.

On 5 March 1856, in St Mary's, Portsea,  Susanna Thompson married Stephen Pocock, a Royal Naval seaman serving on HMS Algiers.  Stephen was the son of John & Bridget Pocock, and was born c1824 in Yorkshire.  To date we have not been able to find any more about Susanna and Stephen's  lives.
